Chang Kang
Chang Kang is the young Prime Minister. Very intelligent and also very crafty, he wants to seize power. Still, insubordinate as he is, he still knows practical, if not ethical, limits. He's also got a weak spot for cash, and finds private sector leadership to be, to say the least, profitable.

Lao Yang (Old Yang)
Very old and knowledgeable, Lao Yang is an experienced advisor rumored to psychic abilities. In reality, though, the only reason he's more accurate than most is because of his 70 years worth of experience. Most people respect his word as if it were straight from the mouth of the gods.

Mei Jing
The unlikely successor to the throne, Mei Jing ends up in what is literally a love-hate relationship with power. With love for more than the people, her affiars are many, but she tries not to let them interfere with her job, or the other way around. While not the most brilliant of leaders, her willingness to compromise makes up for a lot.

Li Chou
The extremely aggressive general, Li Chou at least has the skill and strategy to justify his warmongeriing. Chang finds him useful although dangerous. Mei finds him flat-out dangerous and needing to be kept busy.

Hsiao Yin
An old friend of Mei Jing, Hsiao Yin helps her out when she's down and out.

King Yuan
The outwardly militaristic king of the Mongol hordes to the north.

Champion Tzong
A great scholar from a poor boondocks village, Tzong placed first in the civil service examination to become the nation's top political analyst.

Shih Hwayruong
An accomplished scientist, Shih's personal favorite field of study is human behavior and psychology, and enjoys applying knowledge from his studies. He strongly believes that science can fix the world's problems.

Shen Ding
Brilliant scientist bordering on mad. Shen Ding's inventiveness is only rivalled by her complete disregard of consequences from personal and scientific business in making headlines.
